Flat Courses
 
Ascot: Right-handed triangle, galloping and stiff, with few undulations, Just over 1m6f round, with 2 1/2f run-in. Straight mile and round mile. All races up to 7f on straight course.
Ayr: Left-handed 1 1/2m oval, galloping with minor undulations.
Bath: Left-handed 1 1/2m, oval, galloping, 4f run-in, bending to left, against collar throughout. Ground seldom testing.
Beverley: Right-handed 1m3f oval, generally galloping, with very stiff 5f course.
Brighton: Left-handed, 1 1/2m U-shape, markedly undulating and sharp. Suits handy types.
Carlisle: Right-handed, 1 1/2m pear-shape, galloping and against collar over last 4f.
Catterick: Left-handed 1m1f oval, undulating and very sharp with handiness essential.
Chepstow: Left-handed oval, undulating, 1m7f round with 4 1/2f run-in. Races up to 1m on straight course. Tends to extremes of going.
Chester: Left-handed, flat, just over 1m round with short run-in. Very sharp, not favouring long-striding horses.
Doncaster: Left-handed, pear-shaped, galloping. Almost 2m round with 4 1/2f run-in. Round and straight miles. Mainly flat, providing fair test.
Epsom: Left-handed, U-shaped course of 1m4f with steep undulations. 3 1/2f run-in with pronounced camber, initially downhill, rising in final furlong. Races up to 8 1/2f essentially sharp, particularly on 5f track, which is the fastest in the world.
Folkestone: Right-handed, undulating 1 1/4m oval with 3f run-in.
Goodwood: Right-handed with loop for longer races. Long run-in, but primarily sharp, particularly on downhill sprint course.
Hamilton: Right-handed, loop course with 5f run-in part of straight. Undulating, with pronounced finishing climb.
Haydock: Left-handed oval, galloping, 1m5f round, with 4 1/2f run-in.
Kempton AW: Right handed floodlit ten furlong oval for 6f, 7f, 1m, 1m3f, 1m4f and 2m races. Inner six furlong track for 5f and 1m2f races.
Leicester: Right-handed, undulating oval, about 1m6f round with 5f run-in.
Lingfield AW: Left-handed 1m 2f all-weather polytrack surface inside turf course with an extended chute to give a 1m5f start; gradual bend into the back straight.
Lingfield Turf: Left-handed, undulating triangle of 1m4f with 3 1/2f run-in. Straight 7f 140y.
Musselburgh: Right-handed, 1 1/4m oval with tight turns. 4f run-in. going rarely testing.
Newbury: Left-handed, almost flat, roughly 1m7f with 4 1/2f run-in. Races on round mile and over 7f60y start on chute. Straight mile has minor undulations.
Newcastle: Left-handed 1 3/4m oval with easy bends. Uphill 4f run-in places emphasis on stamina. Can become very testing.
Newmarket July: Right handed bend at halfway. 2 miles 24 yards with the first mile being part of the Cesarewitch course, the last the straight Bunbury Mile. All races up to a mile are on the straight course. Undulating, rising the last furlong to the post
Newmarket Rowley Mile: Right-handed 2m2f Cesarewitch Course turning into undulating 1m2f straight. Uphill final furlong exposes stamina weaknesses. Wide and galloping; good test.
Nottingham: Left-handed oval, galloping, flat with easy turns. About 1m4f round with 4 1/2f run-in.
Pontefract: Left-handed, undulating 2m circuit, with straight of just over 2f. Last 6f essentially uphill.
Redcar: Left-handed oval, 1m6f round, with tight, banked turn into straight. Run-in 5f. Races up to 1m run on straight course.
Ripon: Right-handed, 1m5f oval with slight undulations and sharp bend before 5f run-in.
Salisbury: Right-handed and galloping. Loop course for races of 1m2f plus. 7f run-in (part of a nearly straight mile) is mainly uphill and makes for a stiff test.
Sandown: Right-handed oval of 1m5f with 4f uphill run-in. Essentially galloping. Separate diagonal 5f also uphill.
Southwell AW: Left-handed all weather, 1žm oval fibresand track with 3f straight.
Thirsk: Left-handed oval of about 1m2f with 4f run-in. Sharp and almost level.
Warwick: Left-handed, sharp, about 1m6f. Dog-leg 5f and 5.5f course.
Windsor: Flat 1 1/2m figure-of-eight course; sharp up to 1m70y.
Wolverhampton AW: Left handed oval all weather fibersand surface.
Yarmouth: Left-handed oval, flat and fair. About 1m 5f round with 5f run-in. Straight mile.
York: Left-handed, U-shaped course, flat and fair, ideal for powerful galloper. 2m with run-in of almost 5f. Races of 7f start on a spur. Can become very testing.
