Quickly Finding Value Bets
There are many ways to quickly find value bets, the most common is to trawl over pages and pages of either websites or newspapers to find one or two facts that you are interested in.
Mostly the info can be hard to find, often the info isn’t even there.
There is a horse running today that I have had in my At The Races tracker for a while now after I started looking into his form a few runs ago. It didn’t take me long to see why this horse was a good place lay for the last two runs and why today should be his chance to return to the winners enclosure.
Jubilee Brig looked to have a good chance two runs ago at Kempton, going by his handicap mark which had dropped to 75, three below the last winning mark of 78 and the horse had won three of its races over 6 furlongs, the trip on the day.
However, within a minute or two and a few mouse clicks later, I could see that not only was the horse worth opposing but that a place lay bet was a good option.
The same was the case the last time the horse ran at Chelmsford but I will show you why things are very different today in the 3.00 at Lingfield.
Inform Racing Form Guide
Clicking the Form Guide link under each card, you get the full list of runners form on one page, in a simple table format and with 19 form criteria headings on show.
Above is part of the guide for Jubilee Brig, sorted by wins (Pos) which brings all the winning and placed form to the top, with all wins highlighted in yellow.
As you can see, very clearly, Jubilee Brigs four wins have come in fields (No. Run) of just 6, 6, 3 and 6.
If you also look at the placed efforts, you can see that the horse has only ever been placed in fields of 10 or less, so the horse clearly doesn’t run to his best when surrounded by lots of other horses.
Today’s race has just 6 runners declared.
Interestingly, three of these wins have also been in non handicap races.
Today’s race is also a non handicap race.
Finally three of the horses four wins have been over 6 furlongs.
Today’s race is over 6 furlongs.
In fact looking through the form guide in Chronological order, the last three times the horse has run in a field of 6 or less, over 6 furlongs, on Standard going, the horse has won.
Advanced Search Feature
If you wanted to pinpoint a horses chance or to find the ‘hidden form’ of a runner, you can look at the Advanced Search Feature, again linked from below each race card.
On the example below, I have searched for a distance of 6 furlongs, the going to be Standard and number of runners from 2 to 6. These filters can be seen above the box once you hit ‘Go’.
As you can see, under these conditions, Jubilee Brig has won 3 out of 3, a 100% strike rate and his three speed ratings for these runs are all better than any of his rivals today.
Bearing in mind Jubilee Brigs form figures are 57-3307, the 5/1 forecast odds in a six runner race are understandable. (Currently 6/1 best price available).
However when you see his form figures for the conditions are 111, you can see that the odds should probably be half what they are and many others will not be able to see this fuller picture using just two or three mouse clicks.
Whatever happens in today’s race, you can see how simple it is to use these two features alone to pinpoint the race conditions and a horses ‘hidden form’ as I like to call it.
These features and many more are available on every one of the 9,000 or so races run in the UK every year and will not only save you hours and hours of detailed research, they will find you many winners at far bigger value odds than they really should be.
So good luck to Jubilee Brig today, I am certainly on at 6’s best odds guaranteed and win or lose I am confident I have found myself a very good, value bet with a real winning chance.
